31/07/2007 - THE OUTDOORS COME ALIVE INSIDE AT BLANCHARDSTOWN CENTRE
A 12 metre sculpted crashing wave with surfing mannequins, a six metre high sculpted mountain with glass back and a wall made from reclaimed logs are just some of the features that help to bring the outdoors alive inside at Ireland’s most unique outdoor & lifestyle store - 53° North, opening in the Blanchardstown Centre on Wednesday, August 1st.
Designed by Umdasch, Europe’s premier retail store architects, the new 20,000sq ft store is 100% Irish owned by brothers Alan and David McFarlane, and carries over 50 of the world’s leading brands, many exclusive to Ireland, across clothing, footwear and accessories for travel, trekking, running, skiing, snowboarding, sailing, surfing, beach and urban lifestyle wear. These include Roxy, Quiksilver, Animal, Oakley, Nike ACG, The North Face, Oxbow, Tommy Hilfiger, Regatta, Eider, Columbia, Helly Hansen, Vans, Tecnica, Timberland, Samsonite and Berghaus.
“We set ourselves the challenge of designing the most innovative outdoor store in Europe and our end result is a truly unique store that embodies the energy and spirit of the outdoors, said Alan McFarlane, 53° North. “Our focus has been very much on the overall customer experience, to deliver top performance brands in an innovative, easy to shop environment, enhanced with our ability to offer expert advice. The inclusion of an Insomnia Café and Treehouse Juice Bar adds to the relaxed atmosphere we have created”, he added.
On arrival to 53° North, customers will be enticed by the dramatic full glass front and 12metre high ceilings which augment the adrenaline fuelled ambiance as well as flooding the store full of natural light. The store spans across four levels with each category and brand clearly defined in a designated area.
Level one represents the first Nike ACG flagship store in the World, and The North Face, a popular brand to accomplished climbers, mountaineers, skiers and snowboarders, demands a 1750sq ft area, creating another store feature within the store. This can be found on the ground floor along with footwear, trek and travel clothing.
53° North first opened in Carrickmines Retail Park in August 2005. The store concept has been further developed with the opening of its second, and flagship store, in the Blanchardstown Centre, on Wednesday, August 1st at 10am. Store opening activities include a fashion show on Saturday, 4th August at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, a mechanical surfboard and samba drummers as well as up to €10,000 worth of instore discounts and giveaways.
