Job Profile - Sales Advisor

Reporting to: Store Manager

 

 

 

Job Purpose

To consistently deliver Mothercare’s Customer Service Standards to all customers and to maximize sales by demonstrating excellent product and range knowledge.  To contribute to the Stores profitability by increasing sales and reducing losses.

 

Key Responsibilities

Sales

 

  • To provide an exceptional standard of customer care.
  • To acknowledge and greet each customer in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Understand the customer profile and ensure you understand their requirements.
  • To listen attentively in order to meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • To ask Questions in order to understand the customer needs.
  • To explain to customers the features and benefits of our product range to meet their needs.
  • To demonstrate our products to customers competently.
  • To close the sale efficiently explaining any appropriate information to the customer.
  • To provide a friendly and efficient service to the customer at the till point, through adherence to correct company procedure.
  • Act as an ambassador and promote a positive image of the brand at all times.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all product areas and to demonstrate the skill of linking features to benefits.
  • To know stores sales targets and sales information on a daily and weekly basis.
  • To identify and promote best sales lines.
  • To overcome objections when dealing with sales opportunities.
  • To deal confidently with complaint enquiries with the aim of total satisfaction of the customer and to refer to the Store Manager when necessary or unresolved.
  • To be aware of competitor activity and to communicate this to the team.
  • To provide an efficient and friendly after sales service to customers.
  • To be aware of relevant consumer legislation

 

Team Member

 

  • To contribute to team meetings and to put ideas forward for problem solving.
  • To communicate effectively with staff, management and customers.
  • To create a positive impression on the telephone in accordance with company guidelines.
  • To be an enthusiastic, effective and participative team member continually seeking to improvements to the store and team operations. 
  • To follow all company guidelines set out in the Staff Handbook and Operations Manuals.

 

Stock Management / Security

 

  • To be vigilant at all times in order to help prevent stock loss.
  • To make yourself fully aware of the company policy with regard to apprehension of shoplifters and to be able to act on it.
  • To adhere to all company policies of loss prevention with regard to all cash and administration procedures.

 

Merchandising of Stock

 

  • To demonstrate merchandising skills in order to ensure correct stock replenishment.
  • To adhere to current display standards.
  • To maximise sales by demonstrating commercial and creative flair for visual merchandising.
  • To ensure correct use of promotional material in accordance with the company pricing policy and legal requirements.
  • To assist in the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness throughout the store.
  • To make regular checks on the standard of in store customer facilities and react effectively and efficiently.
  • To take ownership of all potential hazards within the store regarding staff and customers both on and off the sales floor and to deal with them immediately.
